Japan release only Horse Girls app hit almost $1billion revenues in 2021

Did you know that a horse racing idol game in Japan became one of the world top grossing mobile games despite it is Japan-only release app?


According to Reuter, its user base at times rivalled global massive titles like "Honor of Kings" by Tencent.


What is this "Uma Musume"?


"Uma Musume" (meaning "horse girls") are the girls with horse ears and tails, carry the names and souls of real racehorses that have been reborn in their bodies.


In the game, the player takes on the role of a new trainer at a school for horse girls.


While training and communicating each day with their horse girl, the player seeks to fulfill their dream of winning a race with her in this social simulation game.


According to Cygames, " In this highly immersive game with live commentary, your horse girl competes to place first in thrilling races. Your racing horse girl can also put on a myriad of musical performances in live victory concerts, all rendered in stunningly vibrant 3D."

In addition to the main story that dramatically portrays the horse girls' growth, they each have their own original stories.


According to Sensor Tower, its revenues in 2021 was estimated to be almost USD 1 billion despite it was release in Feb 2021 for Japan only. In 2021, Pokemon GO and Candy Crush that achieved USD1.2 billion revenues according to Sensor Tower.
